School library Project
EPPL took great pride in supporting the establishment of a much-needed library at "Kanangamuwa School" in Matale. This educational institution, catering to over 300 students from grade 01 to grade 11, had been without a proper library facility for an extended period. To address this need, Escas Power renovated a dilapidated classroom into a library and donated it to the college.

Book Donation Programme
As part of our commitment to support the local community and promote education, we recently distributed books and school equipment to the school-going children in Owala village. This initiative was undertaken in collaboration with the management of Escas Owala Power Plant, located in Owala.
The students were thrilled to receive these valuable resources that will help them in their academic pursuits and support their learning endeavors. We believe that education is essential for the growth and development of individuals and communities, and we remain committed to promoting access to education for all.
Through initiatives like this, we hope to contribute to the overall development of the community and empower the young generation with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed. We thank our partners for their collaboration and support in making this initiative a success.
Construction of Bathing Place
In the tranquil village of Owala, taking a refreshing bath in the nearby Sudu Ganga is a part of the long-standing tradition. However, this activity comes with certain safety hazards that cannot be ignored. Sudu Ganga, where the residents bathe, is a river that receives water released from the Ukuwela Power Station situated upstream. When the power plant operates, the water level in the river downstream can rise suddenly and frequently, which could result in dangerous incidents occurring while villagers are enjoying their routine bath time.
To address this serious issue, our organization decided to take action. We recognized the urgency of the situation and immediately provided a safe and secure bathing area for the villagers. The bathing area also comes equipped with a protective safety fence to ensure maximum safety. Moreover, we constructed ten additional bathing facilities that can be used during times when the river water level is low.
This meaningful initiative provides much-needed security and allows the resilient people of Owala to enjoy their bath time without fearing unexpected rises in the river water caused by the power station's operations.

This year too, we were able to provide school supplies to kids in Owala village. Our intension was to provide them with all the educational equipment they need for their studies in school. We picked out the best of supplies for them. In this way, we made sure that the parents of the village, mostly belonging to low-income group of population, are relieved from the burden of providing the necessary books and equipment for their children. We plan to continue with this tradition each year.

Our team didn't let bad weather to disrupt our program of giving school supplies to the enthusiastic kids in Owala village. We worked hard to keep our promise because the programme meant a lot to us. These kids are the future, so we wanted equip them with essentials for their studies. Despite heavy rains and winds, we were able to make our programme a huge success. We're happy we could do this again this year, even with some problems.
