Escas Power

WHO WE ARE

The best things in life are free. From a simple ray of sunshine, to the cooling of a mystical breeze to the graceful flow in a river, the world comes with its best things in various forms. Yet making the most of these vitalities and harnessing its potential into recreating greater power, cannot be achieved by many. Achieving this power and recreating through sources of energy, the inception of ESCAS POWER (PVT) LTD & NAVITAS SOLAR (PVT) LTD took place under the St.Anthony’s group of companies.

With its presence spanning across 8 decades, St. Anthony’s group of companies is a leading conglomerate in Sri Lanka, founded by Deshamanya AYS Gnanam. Being a diversified company, its business interests ranging from consumer goods to construction expanded its portfolio to renewable power under ESCAS POWER & NAVITAS SOLAR in 2009.

Throughout this journey, the experience gained and perfection of what has been learnt, have led ECSAS and NAVITAS into becoming leaders in the field of renewable energy in Sri Lanka as they venture into the fields of hydro, wind and solar power.

As ESCAS POWER (PVT) LTD initiated, the company kickstarter was 4 mini hydro power projects with a combined capacity of 16.5 MW taking place along “Sudu ganga”, Matale. With continuous effort and determination, the ESCAS POWER’s team of engineers were successful in overcoming some of the biggest barriers of low-head high flow hydropower development. At present, ESCAS POWER is working on bringing in a cumulative capacity of 9.3 MW of renewable energy to the national grid through these 4 projects in which 2 are in operation today.

Taking another step towards becoming the leader in green energy, St. Anthony’s group of companies paved its way into developing ground-mounted solar PV power projects through the establishment of NAVITAS SOLAR (PVT) LTD. This neonate company has shouldered the responsibility of developing 15 Solar PV Power Projects with a cumulative capacity of 28 MW. As several projects of this have now been commissioned and others progressing rapidly, NAVITAS seeks to add a cumulative capacity of 22 MW to the national grid in Sri Lanka by 2022.

The significance in St.Anthony’s ventures in the field of renewable energy is that it is not limited to one resource. While they are now focusing on Hydro and Solar power, they are also in the process of commissioning a 10 MW wind power project in the Eastern province by 2024 under their newest subsidiary; ST ANTHONY’S WIND ENERGY (PVT) LTD.

At present, the group's vision is in the avenue of becoming a reality, as their ventures in renewable energy crosses the international borders all the way to the African continent under Positive Energy Investments PVT Ltd where 2 small hydropower projects are now being developed in Uganda and Zambia.
